Unlike shock absorbers, in this case the viscous frictions are very small. Only the surface frictions remain the same.
The principle is the same as for the piston-type shock absorber, the only difference being the plunger/reservoir clearance which, being larger, ensures the dominance of the compressibility characteristic of the elastomer over its viscosity.
The piston velocity has virtually no influence; very little difference can be noticed between static and dynamic operation.
